Covering plasterboard with carpet tiles

Postby Flyboygrounded on Tue Mar 09, 2010 12:29 am

I want to cover the walls and ceiling of my garage with carpet tiles. I've already had plasterboards fitted to battens along the wall and to the ceiling rafters and they are currently not covered with anything (no plaster and no mud or tape, just bare plasterboard). Can anyone tell me a reason why this is a really bad idea from the point of view of how easy/difficult/practical it is?

I'm thinking I'll have to stick the tiles with double sided adhesive which I've been told will rip the paper covering off the plasterboard if I ever want to remove the tiles at a later date (I probably wont).

I'm concerned that the tiles won't stick properly or that they'll fall off due to gravity and take the integrity of the plasterboard with them.

Any advice please - other than "Don't do it"?

Thanks
